- Are you struggling with frequent injuries after the birth of a child?
- Do you have lingering back pain that did not go away after pregnancy?
- Do you worry about when it is safe to get back to activity after having a baby?
- Do you have an abdominal separation that won’t close?
Getting back to activity after pregnancy can be tough.
Pregnancy causes many changes in the body. These changes can persist months, or sometimes years after delivery. You should not accept that these postpartum changes are permanent.
During pregnancy, muscles and joints accommodate for a growing baby and increasing weight. Ligaments that typically provide our body with stability naturally loosen and stretch to prepare for delivery. Your center of mass changes as the baby pushes your stomach forward. Unfortunately, the body does not automatically return to its previous function after delivery.
Common complaints after pregnancy include:
- Low back pain
- Abdominal weakness and separation (diastasis recti)
- Urinary Leakage
- Frequent injuries when returning to exercise
Recovery from these issues is possible! Healing after pregnancy requires looking at the whole body.
At Lifestrength Physical Therapy we closely examine how you coordinate your muscles. Then we can tailor a program to focus on building strength, and restoring postural faults. We can help guide you in safely returning to your exercise routine and reaching your goals to return to your active life.
